North Western Surfcasting Association |
|
Our
Club was formed in 1992. We are one of the largest clubs dedicated
to casting, in the country. Our membership comes from a large part of
the North of England (North West, North Wales, Cumbria, North East,
Yorkshire and Cheshire). With the help of our Eastern friends the
standard of casting is very high.
We have 8 events every year starting March and ending in October.
Our events are run on a group system, casters are graded when they
join the club. When you start, if you are new to the sport, you would
start in the beginners group. This group is for people who cast
anywhere upto 180yds. Once you achieve that distance or above, you
would be promoted to B Group for casts between 180-210yds. When this
distance has been achieved at 2 separate events you will move into A
Group 210-230yds. Same again into Premier, 230yds upwards.
There are trophies awarded in each group for 1st, 2nd & 3rd at
each event. Points are awarded for overall position on the day and
trophies are awarded annually for the best in each group.
We are always on the lookout for Juniors. They receive free
membership and free events. Everything is free for them except the raffle.
We always have casting instructors available at events, but any
member would help if you asked them.
Our fields, we have 4 available for our use, are at Sand Villa Farm,
Cockerham near Lancaster and are easy to get to from the M6, Junction 33.
In
2003 the long standing Secretary - John Pirie stood down after
steering this to possibly the top casting club in the UK, with the
support of the membership and a big pair of Wellies to fill Len
'Fingers' Williams took on the mantle and did a great job. Owing to
other commitments Len has now handed the running of the club over to
John Brimblecombe and Josh Evans and their contact deatils are :-

Josh Evans - joshllevans@yahoo.co.uk mobile : 07866 842433
